Wiltshire Car Dealer >> Selling a Car
Selling a Car
When selling your car you will firstly need to decide whether to sell it privately or through a car dealer in Wiltshire, as a part exchange for a new car. Many dealers will not buy a car from you in return for cash, unless the car is considered to be a bargain to them but in which case you will be out of pocket.
Before you sell your car make sure it is as clean as possible, both inside and out. You may want to consider taking it for a professional valet. It will greatly help the sale if the car is recently serviced with an up to date MOT and at least a few months of tax left on it.
Next, if you are intending to sell it privately you will need to advertise the car. The main options available to you include the Internet and local car magazines. You will need a good photograph of the car and a description that includes details such as the make, model, colour, engine size, year, mileage etc.
The next stage in the car selling process will be viewings. Answer any questions that buyers have honestly. If they want to test drive the car make sure they are insured and go with them in the car.
If the buyer wishes to pay by cheque you should ask to see proof that the cheque is genuine or wait until it clears before you allow them to take the car away. You could also accept payment by bankers draft or chaps transfer but this is best done on a weekday when the process can be checked and verified by a bank.
